About Fumi
Born and raised in Japan, famous for its nail fashion, Fumi has been studying nail care and art since 2002. She’s studied in Japan, Australia and America, and currently holds seven certifications in the practice, as well as salon experience in massage, reflexology and aromatherapy.
Fumi moved to Portland from her hometown of Hamamatsu, Japan, in 2011, and immediately noticed the difference between Japanese and American nail art—more specifically, the lack of the latter. She cares greatly about quality nail care and relaxation, and wants to bring those values to clients here in the States.
The gel polishes and Japanese soak-off gels used at Color Treats are much more gentle and flexible for natural nails than acrylics or hard gels. They remove quickly and easily without the need for heavy drilling, which can cause damage to your nails. And soak-off gels are made with color quality in mind, using vibrant pigments that bring out the best in your designs.
Soak-off gel is thicker than other polishes, and protects nails from the elements. It lasts 3 to 5 weeks, and is great for people who want long-lasting, stronger natural nails.
Gel polish is thinner, so it looks and feels more like the natural nail. It generally lasts 2 to 3 weeks, and is better for those who want to change their designs more often.
Not everyone’s nails are the same. Fumi works with each client to determine the best approach for them, taking nail type, strength, lifestyle, occupation, and the expected duration of the design into account before choosing gels and materials.
Fumi’s dry pedicure uses a new, more effective and environmentally friendly technique which uses far less water, with less chance for bacterial infection than traditional pedicures. And unlike other salons, Fumi pays just as much attention to exfoliation and cuticle care with pedicures as she does with manicures, using her background in massage to ensure clients are relaxed and comfortable during their service.
